Our specialist Sports Orthopaedic Surgeon is seeking a full-time (4 days also considered) professional, highly organised, customer service savvy, staff oriented and experienced Practice Manager to lead our team. This role would play a pivotal role in our practice supporting our Surgeon and managing our fantastic team.

To set the scene, our practice and Surgeon are renowned, this is a state-of-the-art fully digital practice and team – second to none. Our brand-new rooms are simply stunning, they are light, bright and have a modern fit-out.

Our principal Surgeon is a leader in their field and has an excellent reputation Australia-wide and overseas. Particularly specialising in injuries across various professional sports codes.

We have a professional and caring culture, for our staff and valued patients. We are very proud of our patient care program, and go above and beyond to ensure their patient journey is as smooth as possible.

Many of our patients are competitive athletes, so our team understands the priority that is needed to assist them in their individual treatment and the speed of their recovery.

Our staff includes a Senior Receptionist and Practice Nurse who will report to you.

About You

We are looking for a Practice Manager who would love to be part of our progressive practice journey, loves to be involved in our practice’s area of interest, and who prides themselves on their leadership skills. This is a long term role. You also understand the importance of caring and supporting our practice and staff and most importantly our patients – they are our number one priority.

Our requirements are:

  • Implement, manage and troubleshoot processes/procedures in the practice, to make them as efficient as possible allowing staff to focus on the patients.
  • Full practice reporting including end-of-day, week and month reporting directly to the
  • Having an excellent understanding and previous experience in Theatre Bookings, Theatre Billing and Surgical Quoting, Genie Medical Software (or similar) including AMA fees.
  • Ensuring the practice is always fully compliant with industry and government regulations including WHS.
  • Attend, run and actively participate in all relevant practice
  • IT savvy skills (able to troubleshoot as required)
  • Possess excellent organisational skills, outstanding work ethic and
  • Enjoy creating and refining new and present processes to ensure the practice runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Displaying outstanding customer service skills (whether internally or externally, whether our patients or referrers), verbally and written.
  • Proud of your professional manner and presentation – being our Brand Ambassador
  • Have the capacity to perform well in a busy environment – must be a skilled multi- tasker
  • Happy to perform ad-hoc administration duties for the Surgeon
  • Ordering and organising prosthesis, equipment and dealing with
  • Oversee reception – providing relief when required
  • Managing clinical and admin supplies
  • Constantly liaise with hospitals, anaesthetists and surgical assistance
  • Maintain and keep current the Practice Handbook

Management responsibilities: 

  • Experience in motivating and training a team to continually improve the efficiencies and workings of our practice
  • Manage medico-legal cases (limited)
  • Management of staff, including rosters
  • Involvement in staff recruitment including induction and ongoing development

Accounts/Billing responsibilities:

  • Ensure Medicare/DVA/Workers Compensation billing is up-to-date along with batching
  • Manage complex patients/dentist quotations – approve emergency bookings
  • Ensuring time quotation and payments and receipting of patient surgeries
  • Being experienced in working with various health funds and Medicare (Eclipse viewed highly)

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of Practice Manager experience – Orthopaedic with Genie software experience, viewed favourably
  • Private Specialist experience is mandatory

Hours/days:

We will consider the following options:

  • 4 standard days 9:00am till 5:30pm
  • 4 long days 8:00am till 6:00pm (full time wage)
  • 9 day fortnight 9:00am till 5:30pm
  • 5 standard days 9:00am till 5:30pm (full-time wage)
  • With the above options, working a Monday and Friday is mandatory, if working 4 days, Wednesday would be your day off.

*Initial finish time on consulting days may be 6.00pm until staff restructure takes place
